Mail Server Setup in Linux Debian 6.0.4

1. apt-get install postfix dovecot-imapd dovecot-pop3d

2. Append to   /etc/postfix/main.cf   (add to bottom)

home_mailbox = Maildir/

smtpd_sasl_type = dovecot

smtpd_sasl_path = private/auth

smtpd_sasl_auth_enable = yes

smtpd_recipient_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, permit_sasl_authenticated, reject_unauth_destination

broken_sasl_auth_clients=yes

3. Edit    /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf as Uncomment line:   mail_location = maildir:~/Maildir

replace # pop3_client_workarounds = (with) pop3_client_workarounds = outlook-no-nuls oe-ns-eoh

replace mechanisms = plain with:

socket listen {

client {

path= /var/spool/postfix/private/auth

mode=0660

user=postfix

group=postfix

}

}

mechanisms = plain login

4. service dovecot restart

5. service postfix restart

done…. !
